As a serious amateur natural photographer, I am always eager to visit Kenya, one of the best places of the world, to capture wild life pictures. This dream was actualized with my wife and two friends in early Oct 2001. Of course, the main objective of this trip is to take wild life photo Before planning the Kenya trip, I asked for the advices from few famous US photographers like John Shaw, Joe and Mary Ann McDonald. These photographers organized the photography trips which, of course, would provide better occasions and angles to take photos than my own planned trip. However, they are too expensive for me and I cannot afford. Instead, I planned my own "relatively" budgeted trip by making reference to their itinerary and the information from various travelling books like "Photographing on Safari: A Field Guide to Wildlife Photography in East Africa" written by Joe McDonald and "Lonely Planet - Kenya". I also joined the talk held by Protrek of Hong Kong (www.protrek.com.hk) about East Africa and visited some of the web sites like http://members.fortunecity.com/travel2africa/tanzania/index.htm (Chinese character) developed by a Hong Kong Traveler "Old Dreamer", which is very informative and helpful, although its information is mainly for Tanzania.
We chose to take the Emirate Airline, which is expensive but more comfortable and reliable than Gulf Airline and India Airline. It also offers daily connected flight between Hong Kong, Dhabi of UAE and Nairobi of Kenya such that I could go on my trip or fly back to Hong Kong without staying for a long period of time in Dhabi/Kenya in case we are delayed of one or two days during the journey/flight for unexpected occasions. |
